What this tool does

A free tool that handles two pieces of paperwork for UK homeowners with a plug-in solar kit: G98notification (telling your electricity network what you've installed) and SEG registration (getting paid for surplus export). From 27 August 2026, kits up to 800 VA are legal in Great Britain under SI 2026/848. You have 28 days to notify your network.

Who's behind it

GridStitch, a small UK software team. We build compliance tools for the renewable energy transition — specifically, the paperwork that's supposed to be for professionals but keeps getting handed to homeowners who've never seen a G98 form.

How it works

  • The form generator runs in your browser. Nothing gets sent to a server.
  • No account, no sign-up, no data stored.
  • You download a PDF and send it to your network yourself.
  • Enter your postcode and we'll tell you which operator covers your area.

Editorial standards

How it stays free
